Activity: Primary Squares

This game is based on the television game show "Hollywood Squares."

Choose 8 review songs and 1 wiggle song.  Print the pictures associated with the songs you have chosen from the set for the matching game.  Draw a tic-tac-toe board at the front of the primary room.  Tape one song card in each square.  (Or simply write the names of the songs). 

Divide the primary into two teams.  The first team chooses a square and sings the song.  If they sing it well, remove the picture and mark the square with an "X."  If they don't sing well, leave the card on the board and play goes to the second team.  

Continue until one team gets three in a row. 

When playing games, remember that we are counseled not to encourage excessive competition.  If you sense that the children are getting too competitive, discontinue play and transition into another activity.  If at all possible, I like to end the game on a tie.  Be sure to congratulate both teams on their knowledge, singing ability, teamwork, etc. and stress that THIS is what is important.
