I Can!

If you were at the Number Corner training and remember the I Can, can... I have found the sticks used in the can again at Dollar Tree. When I was shopping I heard that more school supplies are being shipped with different items. So, just when you think this back to school shopping is over, you realize it just keeps going and going.

I Really Can't Contain Myself!

Well, this day started off like a charm... Up early, one appointment and right around the corner a little store called Dollar Tree. I had to stop in to get a BIG bag for one of my best teacher friends birthday! Well, and what do my eyes spy? OM~gosh, a ONE DOLLAR HAND POINTER! I had to take a moment and make sure I wasn't giving myself high blood pressure and collect my thoughts! Yes, it IS exactly the same as the ones you pay five dollars for teacher friends. Trust me, I have inspected every inch of this gem. You better run and get them while they are there!
But before I leave to go get some more... I wanted to share with you one of my favorite summer finds, my binder easel. I learned about binder easels from Beth at Primary Connections. I am using one for my morning greeting to my students as they walk in the door. I just love this idea. In the coming days, I will share some other fun ideas for this so cute binder easel.

The Golden Rule!

The Golden Rule is simple... Take a picture of an area or specific work station in your classroom and place it in a golden frame. Teach your class to follow "The Golden Rule" by putting things back just as the picture shows. I have snuck my first "Golden Rule" in my kitchen. I wonder if my family will notice?

Stamp Boxes!

The boxes, stamp and stamp pad were all purchased at Michael's. The boxes were two for a dollar. The stamp was around two dollars and the stamp pad was a dollar. I like the small stamp pads because they fit in a container and they are only used with the one stamp, so the color stays the color, instead of getting mixed. I only let the kids use Math or Science stamps with that specific activity. When the activity has been used for everything I have had planned for it, I will let the kids use it as they wish but not until then. I usually have a coupon so the stamp pads are usually about sixty cents. It is worth it to me because those big giant stamp pads are messy and we make plenty of other messes...just not at Math Time!

Build Your Own

I saw this idea in a Really Good Stuff Catalog where you can Build Your Own desktop helpers. The good thing is that you can add the elements that you want on your desktop helpers that you want and need. It is up to you! If you want a cute little 100's chart or a number line then you pick it and create it and BOOM it is exactly what you want and need! It is worth thinking about!

Management Idea!

Looking ahead to next year...and just thinking how I will manage things if I have a large class size. I just found these star sticks and I am super excited to use them! I plan on using them when I am teaching a whole group lesson and instead of calling on a child who raises their hand, I am going to reach for a star and call on the child who is written on the stick. Once the child has responded or passed on a response I am going to put the star stick in another container. I like this idea because everyone is engaged and wondering if they will be called on next, passing on an answer is ok and it is a more fair system than just randomly calling names and taking so much time raising hands over and over. I can't wait to put these to use! And the best part is that these are wipe on and off so you can reuse them!

Would these also be cute as reading pointers? Om~gosh, I am ordering some more!
